On February 24, 2021, President Biden rescinded Trump’s Immigrant Visa ban (Proclamation 10014) which suspended the entry of certain immigrant visa applicants. However, given the backlog caused by the Covid pandemic and the bans under Trump, the resumption of visa services will not be swift or back to pre-pandemic levels. The Department of State has provided an update on its website regarding expectations of visa services moving forward. A copy of which is shown below.
Nonimmigrant Ban Still Intact
Keep in mind that while President Biden has now revoked Proclamation 10014, he has not taken action to revoke the entry ban on nonimmigrant temporary workers (Proclamation 10052) which impacts those seeking H-1B, H-2B, L-1, J-1 and their dependents in need of H-4, L-2, or J-2 visas. This nonimmigrant visa ban is set to expire on March 31, 2021.
