Avoid Common Errors During H-1B Registration

As we enter into the registration period (March 9, 2021 to March 25, 2021), it is important to note some of the common mistakes so that each beneficiary is properly registered.

The company should be aware that there are three account types to choose from. Choose the correct one. Regardless of whether they have an attorney or not, they must have an account as a “H-1B registrant”. Please see our other posts linked below about creating an account for the first time.

Avoid duplicate registration. This means that the same company cannot register for the same beneficiary more than once. If company’s attorney is registering on its behalf, the company should not attempt to register again on its own. This is indeed confusing. Last year, we received numerous inquires from our clients on whether they should register because they see the registration option on their screen whenever they log in. Given the confusion, we reached out to each client who had retained us to help them register and made sure that they do not register again on their own.

The system currently does not automatically flag duplicates. If duplicates are found after registration periods ends on March 25, 2021, that submitted registration will be rejected. It is therefore to triple check prior to March 25, 2021 and make sure that here are no duplicates.

Below is summary from USCIS regarding common errors during registration.
